This particular shark picture is Rick MacPherson's avatar for his profile and is a good representation of his Passion for educating others of the happenings of our marine environments. Rick is a field-based marine conservation biologist and works in science education as a marine ecologist, coral reef conservationist, and science writer working to preserve ocean biodiversity while helping to build greater understanding and appreciation of our oceans". He seems to be head strong and purpose driven just like the shark.
The name of the blog came from his friends saying that his job took him "island hopping and was a series of rum drinks while enjoying sunsets in exotic, tropical locales." and he would reply "In addition to the malaria, bedbugs and sea lice".
